Operating as UMMA Jiu-Jitsu Academy at 6824 Veterans Boulevard, Suite 200B in Metairie, Louisiana, this EastBank grappling school also maintains a sister West Bank location at 1528 Pietro Ct in Harvey. The academy was founded by Head Coach Khurshid Rozimatov, who built a competitive foundation in Taekwondo and Greco-Roman wrestling before beginning Jiu-Jitsu training in 2010. He coaches alongside brown belt instructor Coach Derick M., who brings more than a decade of Jiu-Jitsu experience teaching both youth and adult classes. Purpose-built for Judo, Wrestling, and Grappling, the Metairie academy runs structured Gi and No-Gi classes for adults, women-only sessions, and one-on-one private lessons. Youth programming is organized into three bear-themed developmental divisions: the Teddy Bears Movement Class for ages 3 to 5 focusing on balance, coordination, and motor skills, Bear Cubs for ages 6 to 8 introducing fundamental grappling drills and discipline, and the Bears division for older youth.
